Yo, pour a coffee and sit down, 'cause I got news that'll make you realize politics is like a bad soap opera, but with more money at stake! Former PNL deputy Stelian Tănase dropped a bombshell on Facebook: he said there was an attempted coup in the party to bring Crin Antonescu from Brussels to Bucharest as supreme leader. But it failed, bro! "The party's deadbeats and the usual coup plotters allied with the PSD hitched up. What a lousy script! The soap opera ends here. Like a lottery ticket: try again!" wrote Tănase. And just like that, the PNL is left with Bolojan and Ciucu, whom Antonescu trashed in an anniversary message: he accused them of "licking doorknobs" at Cotroceni and not reacting when the PNL was a "keychain" during Bolojan's premiership. To me, it looks like they're playing cat and mouse, and us regular Romanians are left saying: "What are you doing up there, guys?"

But don't think it's only us with the bull! Brussels, bro, has its own problems too. They're scared of a presidential final in France, in 2027, between Jordan Bardella (far-right) and Jean-Luc Mélenchon (far-left). Both are critical of the EU and NATO, so for Brussels it's a nightmare. According to Politico, polls show Mélenchon, at 74, has made a spectacular comeback and has real chances to make it to the second round, which would eliminate the centrist candidate. Édouard Philippe, former PM, called this "a nightmare," and Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin warned that Mélenchon is becoming the far-right's main opponent. Two polls - Odoxa and Toluna-Harris Interactive - show Mélenchon tied for second place with Philippe, and if the center fragments further (with multiple candidates like Philippe and Gabriel Attal), Mélenchon enters the second round. The center is divided, with rivalries between Philippe and Attal, with no signs of unification. Mélenchon, though one of the most unpopular politicians, runs a modern campaign and has a rally on June 7 in Saint-Denis. If it were a Bardella-Mélenchon final, Bardella would win with 70%, but for Brussels it's a disaster either way.

What more can I say? While our PNL is playing coup with Antonescu from Brussels, the French are gearing up for elections with extremes. I'm off to tell Mioara that at least it's not that bad here, though it's still crap here too. Cheers!
