Bro, sit down because I've got news that'll make you forget how much you paid for diesel last month! On June 9, fuel prices seriously dropped: premium gasoline went down by 30 cents per liter, standard by 20 cents, and diesel by 15 cents. Now, a liter of premium gasoline is between 9.80 and 10.25 lei, and standard diesel between 9.34 and 9.59 lei. LPG stayed at 4.42 lei, so we don't get too excited.
Now, where do you find the lowest prices? In Dâmbovița, bro, that's where gasoline is 8.91 lei and diesel 9.34 lei. In big cities like Bucharest, Cluj, Timișoara, Iași, Constanța, standard gasoline is 9.33 lei, diesel 9.34 lei. Personally, I still paid 9.50 in Berceni, but maybe I just picked the wrong spot.
And here comes the big news: the Rabla 2026 program could start as early as June! Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu announced that the launch order has been published and is in transparency for ten days, after which it gets approved. The budget was increased from 200 to 300 million lei. Eligible cars? Those manufactured in the EU, the European Economic Area, and Mediterranean Treaty states. Mioara is already planning to get rid of the 2008 BMW, but I say it's got more life in it.
On top of that, the Environment Ministry is pumping 1.5 billion lei into water and sewage infrastructure to avoid infringement proceedings. Well, in Teleorman, at my mother-in-law's, water is still brought in buckets, but we'll see.
And what a coincidence: on June 9 in history: in 68 AD, Nero committed suicide and ended the Julio-Claudian dynasty; in 1928, the first transpacific flight landed in Brisbane; and in 2018, Simona Halep won Roland Garros, the first Romanian woman in 40 years to win a Grand Slam. Today, besides cheaper fuel, the kiosks have the magazine with the gorilla, 29.99 lei with three figurines. Brian wants one too, but I told him I'd rather get a coffee.
And on another note, on June 22, the new season of "What Romanians Say" starts on PRO TV and VOYO, with Cabral. Mioara says we should watch, but I'd rather go out to Fane's terrace.
Anyway, I'm off to tell Mioara to stop dreaming about Rabla, because maybe this year we'll finally get a new car, if the price hikes don't get us first!
