Yo, madness! Iron Maiden is coming to Bucharest, at the National Arena, on Thursday, May 28, and they're throwing the whole city's mobility into the air. Listen up: six bus lines are diverted, five have extended schedules, and you don't know where you're going anymore. I had the same thing with Mioara when Black Sabbath came a few years ago – I sat on the tram for two hours because nobody knew about the restrictions. Now, TPBI, that Public Transport Association, announced in advance: from 3:00 PM, on Pierre de Coubertin Blvd. and Basarabia Blvd., between Chișinău and Câmpia Libertății, traffic is closed. So lines 85, 90, 104, 143, 640, and N109 go crazy. The 'Piața Hurmuzachi' stop is moved to Calea Călărașilor, after Mihai Bravu. Seriously, it's like playing cat and mouse.

Let me explain the diversions in plain language, because if you're like me, you don't look at maps. Lines 85 and 90 slalom on Tony Bulandra Street and return to the Vatra Luminoasă Depot. Line 104, which used to take you to Iancului, now goes on Șos. Iancului, Mihai Bravu, Decebal Blvd., and then comes back. Line 143, which went on Baicului, now loops on Șos. Pantelimon, Ferdinand Blvd., to the Baicului terminal, and returns on side streets. And lines 640 and N109, which came on Basarabia, now go on Nicolae Grigorescu Blvd., Constantin Brâncuși Street, Baba Novac, Mihai Bravu, Calea Călărașilor. What can I say, bro, Brâncuși would be proud we're giving him free promo at the concert.

But the good part is that after the concert, when everyone pours out like cattle, they've extended the schedule. Lines 1, 10, 85, 90, and 104 run until after midnight. Line 1 passes near the Arena between 11:05 PM and 12:05 AM – every 5-10 minutes. Line 10, same, until 12:10 AM. Line 85 leaves from the Arena to Gara de Nord at 11:02 PM, 11:17 PM, 11:32 PM, 11:47 PM. Line 90 to M Petrache Poenaru at 11:25 PM, 11:38 PM, 11:58 PM. And line 104, which goes to Piața Operei and Pantelimon, has departures at 11:00 PM, 11:10 PM, 11:15 PM, 11:25 PM, 11:40 PM. Relax, you can also catch lines 5, 311, 335, 640, N1, N10, N102, and N109, which run normally. So if you're not like one of those guys at the terrace who stays until the last chord, you've got a chance to get home.

Now, let's be serious: Iron Maiden at the National Arena – that's an event, bro! But the traffic is a nightmare. Last year, when I went with Brian to a match, I spent an hour getting out of the parking lot. So my advice: leave the BMW at home, take the tram or bus, you'll be faster. And if you want to have a beer after the concert, at least don't get behind the wheel. Me, I'm going with Mioara and the boys, but we'll hang at a nearby terrace to wait for the crowd to disperse. Because, hey, this is Romania: you come to the concert, but you struggle to leave the arena.
