Boss, you won't believe it! I went to the National Arena today to see what's going on, because even though I have my 2008 BMW and a subscription to Fane on the terrace, I still want to know what they're doing with our money. And what do I see? Instead of football, I found a bunch of tents with Turkish food! The pitch is destroyed, the parking lots are flooded, the elevators are blocked, and you're just sitting there eating kebab on the field. That's the way, bro! The Anatolian Food Fest, 52nd edition, says Elena Popa, the organizer. And here I thought this arena was for football, not for grilling baklava.
Now, don't think it's just food, because at the entrance from Pierre de Coubertin, a Festival of Good has also started. They say it's an open space for people, with activities for all ages, creative workshops, concerts. Today Christian Thomson sings, soprano Ana Cebotari, and the children from the Metropolitan Center 'Ioan I. Dalles'. Sunday closes with Ștefan Bănică Jr. Man, I haven't heard of Christian, but if there's a soprano, it must be something fancy. Meanwhile, I'm looking at prices: a kebab between 20 and 35 lei. Two years ago it was 15, bro! But hey, inflation, 21% VAT, they've wrecked us.
And the coolest part: the festival is charitable. The funds go to the Tuna Foundation, which helps 12,000 families a year. Oh my, 12,000! I can barely help my own family, but they do good with cold blood. And people are buying flatbreads, sweets, spices brought from Turkey. I'm thinking of Mioara: with her Lidl coupons, if she saw how much a jar of spices costs, she'd take someone's mustard.
But let's get back to football. The Kapital Festival, which was supposed to be on July 3-5, has been canceled! They say it's because of politics and the tax system. These guys are pros, bro! The organizers blame political factors, and I believe them. Have you seen how it is here? Who pays? Us again. Those with tickets to Kapital either keep them for 2027 or get their money back. Let's see when they get it, because I'm still waiting for some money from Relu from 2019.
In the meantime, the National Arena is occupied with festivals and food trucks. The next football match is only in mid-August, most likely Rapid - Dinamo. Until then, if you want to see some sport, you'd better watch how a kebab is eaten. And on July 17-19 there's also the Bucharest Town Charity Run, for the motorcycle community. Maybe I'll go with my BMW, so people can see what a car I have, but I hope they don't take my registration.
So, bro, if you're craving a kebab and want to do some good, go to the National Arena. If you want football, wait a bit longer. And don't forget: there's a festival on every corner, but the money still comes out of our pockets.
