Bro, sit down and hold on tight, 'cause I've got news that'll make your blood boil hotter than my BMW's engine after a ride through Berceni. I've never seen anything like this, not even when Mioara found a dead mouse in the sink! Listen up: The Environmental Guard has filed a criminal complaint for the discharge of sewage water into the Pasărea River. Yeah, you heard right: black water, smelling like a sewer, straight into the Crețuleasca reservoir. And who's the culprit? The Cosmopolis residential complex in Ștefăneștii de Jos, Ilfov - right next to Bucharest, where those villa folks hang out. Environment Minister Diana Buzoianu called it "an act of irresponsibility" and "a direct attack on public health." She said it cold-blooded! And I say: well, man, where were you until now? 'Cause it's no use filing a criminal complaint if the water's been flowing for months, like in our building when the neighbor from 4th floor washes his car and floods us all.
And that's not all, bro. The European Environment Agency sounded the alarm: Romania uses 33.9% of its freshwater resources, and in summer it hits 34%. The warning threshold is 20%, so we're already in the risk zone. Almost one in ten EU citizens has water problems. For us, it's a disaster: old infrastructure, broken pipes, and now these guys dump filth straight into the river. Mioara said this morning: "Costel, look what the rich do, they poison our water too!" And she knows, 'cause she works at Lidl and sees how water bottles are getting more expensive. Well, if we're talking money: who pays for this disaster? Us, ordinary Romanians, with taxes and fees. Those at Cosmopolis build their villas, and we drink water with E. coli.
Minister Buzoianu also said that climate change and drought will worsen the situation at least until 2030. But until then, what do we do? Do we wet ourselves with tears when we see the Pasărea River turned into a sewer? And so, Romania, with its fragile resources, is being robbed under our noses. As Caragiale said: "Paradise is closed, entrance is through the basement." Well, in our case, the basement is full of sewage! Now seriously, I'm going to explain to Mioara why we no longer drink tap water and check the Environmental Guard's website to see if anything's moving. You stay alert, 'cause this isn't just news - it's a direct attack on our wallets and health!
