Man, sit down because I found out something good! Saturday afternoon, Crete shook twice, and not from partying, bro. Two moderate earthquakes, one after another, right in the southeast of the island. For now, no casualties or damage reported, but my blood boiled when I heard. Why? Because that's where, dude, all Romanians go for all-inclusive, from the terrace boys to Mioara who's been dreaming of the beach since she saw the Lidl offer.

The first quake, 4.6, hit at 12:31, at 13.4 kilometers depth, epicenter 5 kilometers northeast of the islet of Gavdos. Six minutes later, the aftershock came: 5.3, stronger, 6 kilometers east of Gavdos and 10 kilometers deep. It was felt in several areas of Crete. Man, madness! I mean, you're on a lounger with a frappe and you feel the ground moving under you. I'm not buying the story that it's just a mild quake - if I were there with my BMW parked on the roadside, I'd die of fear.

Now, let's be serious: Crete is the largest Greek island, one of the most earthquake-prone in Europe. And we Romanians go there like it's a mill. Mioara was saying we should take a trip to Crete this year, 'cause it's nice and cheap. Now I wonder: if the ground moves, who pays for the damage? Travel insurance, yeah, but that doesn't cover everything. Better we go to Kavarna in Bulgaria, there we know it's stable.

What do you say, bro? Would you still think about a vacation in Crete after this news? I'm packing my bags and waiting to see if another one comes - and anyway, with gas so expensive, maybe it's better to stay home for a barbecue on Fane's terrace. In the meantime, I'm going to call Relu to see if we can place a bet on the next earthquake - 'cause that's what we're good at, messing ourselves up.
