Bro, grab a beer and sit down, 'cause I've got news that'll make you forget about your bills and price hikes! Traian Băsescu, the former president, went on TV and said it straight up: the 2024 elections were manipulated on TikTok. Yeah, bro, on that network where people use filters.
Băsescu said Romanians watched TikTok instead of listening to debates and voted based on what they saw there. He called it "a different form of electoral fraud" – not with fake stamps, but with videos. And just like that, we ended up with a major political crisis.
Cool as a cucumber, he said it: it wasn't an honest vote, it was a tainted vote. And what do I say? Look at Mioara, sitting on TikTok at night with her sarmale, liking all the crazies.
That's how we ended up with AUR and Georgescu in the polls, no doubt. But Băsescu didn't leave it at that. He said the electoral calendar was also insane: too many elections in a short time, people got confused and didn't even know who they were voting for.
And so, we got Nicușor Dan as president, who initially tried a technocrat government, but eventually had to go back to the PSD-PNL-USR-UDMR combo. Man, I'm not buying this technocrat story. Strike me down, but you can't govern without parties.
And Băsescu said nobody really won. Maybe Călin Georgescu, but his election was annulled, so he's left with a swollen lip. Meanwhile, PSD and PNL went crazy: their leaders didn't even make it to the second round of the presidential elections.
And Băsescu is convinced that if Georgescu and Lasconi had made it to the second round, we'd be seeing something else now. I say he's right: look at the mess in the country now, like we're back in the '90s. And for now, I'm going to tell Mioara to stop believing everything she sees on TikTok, 'cause that's why we're paying 9 lei per liter of diesel.
