I was just chilling on the terrace with Fane, sipping a beer and scrolling on my phone, when I hit the news: Kimi Antonelli, the 19-year-old kid from Mercedes, took pole position! Dude, insanity! He beat Verstappen, Hamilton, everyone! And I'm like, "Fane, is that the same guy who was doing cartwheels on the go-kart track a few years ago?" For real, something scary! He even said after qualifying that it was a "magical" lap. Yeah, sure, kid, let's see what you do on Sunday in the race, because at Monaco, one meter off and you're in the wall! But until then, let me tell you about another appearance that blew my mind.
Listen up, bro! On top of the pole position madness, Kim Kardashian showed up in the Ferrari paddock! Yeah, yeah, the one with the big butt and the reality show. She came by boat straight to that fancy area in Monaco to support Lewis Hamilton. Well, man, what can I say? While I'm struggling to scrape together 200 lei for a full tank for my 2008 BMW, these guys are cruising on yachts and hugging in front of the cameras. The Italian press says she was expected, after they met at the Super Bowl and in Japan. Man, oh man! Serena Williams, Hamilton's friend, said the driver is like a "brother" to her. Come on, man, am I stupid or what?
But let's get back to the racing, because that's why we started this. Saturday's qualifying was solid. Antonelli got his fourth pole of the season, at 19 years old! He beat Verstappen (who's a four-time champion, no joke) and Hamilton (now at Ferrari). In 4th place is Leclerc, also Ferrari, then Hadjar, Russell, Piastri, Norris, Gasly, and Lawson. The race is Sunday at 4:00 PM on Antena 1. I'll watch it too, if Mioara doesn't drag me to the store. But until then, I'm thinking: what I wouldn't give to have a boat to go to work on the Dâmbovița River! But oh well, we'll see what comes out of this race.
