Well, what do you know! Just when we were getting ready for the Whitsunday mini-vacation, with the family and the barbecue, bam – the yellow wind code! The National Meteorological Administration, our very own ANM, issued a warning valid until 9 PM. Seriously, they have no mercy on us Romanians who just want to chill a bit.

And here's the deal: Saturday, May 30, half the country is under a yellow code – Maramureș, Transylvania, Oltenia, southern Banat, southwestern Muntenia, and most of Moldova. That's exactly where the guys with BMWs hang out and have plans to hit the green grass. The wind is blowing hard, gusts of 50-70 km/h in low areas and up to 70-90 km/h in the mountains. So at altitude, the wind takes you straight, no joke!

Here in my Bucharest, in Berceni, it's milder: variable clouds, light to moderate wind, gusts of only 45 km/h and a max temperature of 27°C. Yeah, bro, I'm not complaining, but I'm not bragging either – did I lose my barbecue because of the wind? Mioara already frowned, because she had made a list for grilled sarmale.

Mihai Timu, the meteorologist on duty, explained on TVR info that "the element that draws attention during the day will be the wind." He said that although the wind is strong, the weather remains relatively pleasant. Really? Well, I saw in my neighborhood when the trees bend – I don't know how pleasant that is. In the east and southeast, clouds and light rain, lower temperatures of 18-20°C in Moldova and Dobrogea – it's like a different country there. On the other hand, the west and southwest get 28-29°C, isolated 30°C in Banat, Crișana, and Oltenia. They're barbecuing freely there, but the wind comes and takes the napkins off the table.

Sunday, May 31, as we move further into the mini-vacation, the weather gets even worse. Showers and thunderstorms in the second part of the day, especially in Moldova, Transylvania, Muntenia, and Dobrogea. Exactly when you want to return from the green grass, the rain catches you. And Monday, June 1, heightened instability in the west, center, hilly and mountainous areas, with storms, torrential showers, lightning, and hail. Water amounts can reach 15-25 l/m², and locally 30-40 l/m². So you thought about barbecuing in the mountains? Forget it, bro, the hail will get you.

That's how it is in this country, bro! You can't have a peaceful Whitsunday barbecue without the wind tipping over your table. Mioara is already asking if we're doing anything on Sunday. I'm thinking of staying home, watching some football at Fane's terrace, because at least it's covered there and the wind won't get me. What about you? Stay calm, because if you made plans, maybe move them to next Monday – Romanian weather never forgives.
