Boss, hold on tight because I found out something that'll leave you speechless! Saturday morning, on the D2 highway in the Czech Republic, near Brno, a Romanian truck driver and a Hungarian one died in flames. No joke!

It happened around 4:30 AM, when I was still sleeping like a log, and these guys were working on foreign roads. One of them, the Hungarian, hit a concrete barrier in a construction zone, skidded, and ended up sideways. Before he could get out, a truck with Romanian plates came from behind and slammed into him.

The force of the impact was so huge that both trucks caught fire like a torch. Firefighters arrived quickly, but there was nothing they could do – both drivers died on the spot. Czech authorities closed the entire section and launched an investigation.

The victims' names haven't been released yet, but I know how it is: one of our own, left home to make an honest buck, and ends up like this. I think about Mioara, what she'd do if I also took a truck across Europe. Lucky for me, I have my 2008 BMW and don't mess with trucks, but even that's dangerous.

Two years ago, another Romanian, Petre Giurma from Târgu Jiu, burned in his cabin in Italy. Same story: truck engulfed in flames. And to show you what a cursed day this Saturday was, in Hungary, on the M1 highway near Győr, also at 4:30 AM, another truck crashed into a piece of machinery and caught fire.

The driver died. Then, 40 minutes later, a minibus with nine people smashed into a truck stopped because of the previous accident. Seven people died on the spot, two were taken to the hospital.

Total toll: eight dead. The minibus was registered in Moldova, and authorities in Chișinău are trying to find out who the victims were. Man, I swear!

We Romanians and Moldovans are killing ourselves on Europe's roads, while those back home argue about taxes and highways. Can you believe it? I say let's cross ourselves and take care of ourselves, because life is short and uncertain.

Alright, I'm off to tell Fane to stop drinking so much, because he sometimes drives the van too.
