Man, I'm pissing myself with anger! I was chilling at the terrace with the boys, drinking a beer, when Fane comes with the phone: 'Bro, check it out, the Russians are bombing us in Galati!' I'm like: 'Leave me alone, man, you're trippin'.' I check the news and - holy crap! A Russian Shahed drone, one of those that wreak havoc in Ukraine, crashed straight into a residential block in Galati. Sergiu, madness! Explosion, fire, two people slightly injured - thank God no one died - and about 70 residents evacuated. I don't know what to say, but it seems to me these guys are starting to test our limits. For real, now Romania is a target too? No joke, I crossed myself when I heard.

Now, listen up. Ukraine's President Zelensky jumped right in. He said the Russians deliberately attacked the Odesa region and one of the drones ended up in Romania. And, bro, what followed: he offered support! 'We are ready to support Romania in any way necessary.' I don't know, seems to me now we're closer than ever to teaming up. At the B9 summit in Bucharest, he discussed with our authorities an agreement on expertise in shooting down drones. Looks like the document is in its final stages. What can I say, good for them, but I would have liked to see the drones shot down earlier, not after they hit our homes.

International reactions are pouring in. British PM Keir Starmer said it's a 'serious violation of NATO airspace.' Kaja Kallas, EU foreign policy chief, declared that Moscow cannot be allowed to violate European airspace without consequences. Even the Hungarians, who are more pro-Russian, showed solidarity. Peter Magyar said European unity and the NATO alliance are more important than ever. French minister Benjamin Haddad stated that Russia poses a direct threat to European security. Sit down, man! This is truly serious.

And now, the part that makes my blood boil. Retired Rear Admiral Constantin Ciorobea, former NATO, told Newsweek that the incident justifies invoking Article 4 of the NATO Treaty. That means, bro, requesting urgent consultations because our security is threatened. He said we need a written agreement with Ukraine to shoot down Russian drones even on their territory, at the border. And he also said we have legal limitations - anti-aircraft systems can only be installed in military units or ranges. Well, if drones are falling on our heads, maybe it's time to update the law, right? He suggested the attack could be a test of Romania's defense capabilities. Yeah, tested us like we're on a training ground.

And here's how the technical part ties in. An analysis by The New Voice of Ukraine, cited by G4Media, shows that traditional air defense systems have proven ineffective or too costly against massive waves of Russian drones. Ukraine has innovated quickly: they use AI-assisted interceptor drones costing up to $5,000 each, and light civilian aircraft (Antonov An-28, Yak-52) equipped with machine guns, much cheaper than F-16s. Also, mobile Gepard systems, which we also have, are effective but have ammunition issues. Strategic jamming over large areas remains the most cost-effective long-term solution. That sounds like something we could do too, but I don't know how much we care.

And it doesn't stop there. Ukrainian company Kara Dag Technologies has developed Obriy drone detectors, which scan the radio spectrum between 1 and 6 GHz and can intercept the video signal of analog FPV drones, allowing Ukrainians to see the enemy pilot's footage. These systems are already used by infantry brigades, SBU, GUR, and rescue teams. The next step is integrating detectors on their own drones and automating jamming. Well, well, when I see what technology they have, I think we're still training with grandpa's rifles.

In conclusion, bro, the Galati incident reignites the debate on Romania's airspace security and the need for coordinated measures at NATO and bilateral level with Ukraine. Me, if I hear another drone overhead, I'm heading to the basement and not coming out until peace comes. Or until someone shoots them down. Who pays for all this? Us, the taxpayers, with our taxes. So, enough, man, I've talked enough. Let's have a beer and hope no more drones fall on our heads anytime soon. Peace and quiet nights, but keep your wits about you!
