Man, what I just found out from a guy who works as a tour guide around here left me speechless! So, Transalpina, that fancy road we drive our BMWs on to look cool, has become a vacation destination with theme parks. If you have kids, forget a few-hour drive – now it's a one- or two-day stay.
And it's not that rip-off vibe you get at the seaside, where they charge you 40 lei for a shawarma. Here, in the middle of nature, next to Peștera Muierilor in Baia de Fier, dinosaurs have appeared that befriend the little ones. No joke!
A local guy got down to business and built a pirate ship out of wood, a truck, a helicopter, and a few little houses. I mean, the man took heart and did something for kids, not like at malls where you drop 200 lei and get a bag of air. "Just like when my wife opens the closet: outside it's tidy, inside it's organized chaos."
Oh my, what times! At the Witch's Castle or the Village of Upside-Down Houses, you spend a good few hours seeing everything. And here comes the best part: private investments, some with European funds, not from our tax money.
And the tickets: up to 40 lei for adults, kids pay even less. So, bro, you drop a hundred lei for a family and you've got fun all day, not like at water parks where they skin you alive. Mioara said this year we're not going to the seaside, it's a robbery, but maybe I can convince her to take Transalpina.
Brian is showing off that he wants to see the dinosaurs, and Ioana already asked if there's a princess there too. Hey, maybe we'll catch a barbecue there, I've got enough gas in the trunk. For now, I'm off to fill up the 2008 BMW, because Transalpina doesn't climb itself.
But at least I won't pay 40 lei for a beer on the terrace!
