Dude, what do you know! Got a case at the courthouse? Put it aside, because the clerks have had enough and went on strike like in the stories. From Tuesday, June 2, until Friday, June 5, between 8 AM and 12 PM, activity in courts and prosecutor's offices is halved. Thursday, June 4, between 8 AM and 12 PM, it's total lockdown - they're consulting at the Ministry of Labor to figure out how to get out of this mess. Only urgent cases, life-and-death stuff, as the law says. And on June 5, a general assembly to decide what the hell to do next.
Listen to their grievance: the auxiliary staff - clerks, archivists, all specialized and related personnel - haven't seen a raise in ten years, bro! Ten years! The only increases came through court rulings after they sued the state for misapplying the law. Mioara, my wife, told me: 'Look, even at my Lidl they raise the salary from time to time, but the clerks get nothing for their paperwork.'
And now this salary law project that the government keeps pushing - supposedly wants to freeze wages for another five years and trigger a new wave of lawsuits. The unionists from Dicasterial - the National Union of the Judicial Registry - said clearly: 'We're not drinking water, bro! We don't accept this form, because it doesn't reflect the work we do here.' And they're right: you sit with hundreds of files, deadlines, people yelling at you, and the same salary for a decade. Shame, dude!
Thursday, June 4, besides the strike, they're going to the Ministry of Labor for consultations. Maybe something comes out, maybe not - I don't believe it, because we're fed up with talk. Friday, June 5, general assembly, where they decide if they go even crazier. Until then, if you have business at the courthouse, better call ahead, otherwise you'll be stuck like a cat in a calendar.
Meanwhile, at the City Hall of the Capital, Thursday between 8:30 AM and 12 PM, there's a blood donation campaign. The public administrator, Lucian Judele, said one donation can save three lives. You can sign up at doneaza-sange.pmb.ro. I'd donate too, but I'm scared of needles, I'll pass for now.
And the weather, bro, is crap! Until June 5, highs between 20 and 26 degrees, lows between 10 and 13. Afternoon showers, like in our Berceni neighborhood - you never know when the rain catches you. After June 6, it warms up a bit, but still unstable. That's Romania, bro: clerks on strike, blood at city hall, and rain over everyone. Well, I'm off to call Fane to see if we can grab a terrace spot between two showers!
